Hi my name is Lilly Turner, and I've been playing volleyball since I was ten years old. I remember the first day of club practice, and I already knew I wanted to play in college. It seems like yesterday I was on the court 4'8, serving underhand, with a big ribbon in my hair. Throughout the years of constant hard work and determination, it's finally time to make my dream come true. My favorite aspect about volleyball is being part of a team, always having someone to rely on. I have played club for six years, playing up an age group the past two seasons, and also played on Baylor High School Varsity my freshman and sophomore year. The relationships built between the girls is inseparable because of the competitive love we all have for the game. Being the Libero, I consider myself as a leader, taking control of the backrow with the mentality that no ball hits the ground. I always have a positive attitude on the court because everyone makes mistakes and instead of looking back and dwelling, I learn from what I did wrong—focusing on getting the next ball and making it perfect. Academically, I am just as determined to succeed as I am in volleyball. I take all honors courses this year and plan to take AP courses next year holding myself to a high standard. I am looking for a mostly selective academic school, Division I, II, or III with a good volleyball program.
