Personal Statement
I've been playing some type of sport since I was in first grade. Not only have I played volleyball but also soccer, softball, baseball, track and basketball. I played on travel basketball teams, including a boy's team, from third grade through seventh. It wasn't until middle school did I truly fall in love and decide to concentrate on volleyball. As a junior, this is my third year on varsity and will be my fourth club season. My main focus is to continue playing after high school at the collegiate level.
I'm a very strong player and a definite presence on the court. With a strong vertical and excellent timing, I have the ability to out jump some of my larger opponents at the net. I'm very coachable and take criticism well. I understand what needs to be done to get the win. I'm a team leader and lead by example while encouraging my teammates. I feel strongly that we are teammates on and off the court and am quick to help when I see a teammate in need. In all areas of my life, I am one of the hardest working recruits you'll find.
In the classroom, I study hard to maintain a high GPA. I was fortunate enough to assist my high school's Athletic Trainers after school last spring; working in all areas of Athletic Training. Upon completion of my sophomore year I attended a Sports Medicine Camp at the University of Tennessee for two days which only strengthened my desire to go into that field. In addition to my studies and teams, I volunteer with youth volleyball, am active in my church youth group and work at a local ball field in the summer.
I want a college that will push me in the classroom and on a court. I am open to all options and ultimately want to find the right match at the highest level of competition possible.
