Personal Statement
Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Emily Martinez and I love the game of volleyball. Every time I set foot on a volleyball court, I become motivated to achieve my next goal in the sport I love. I welcome the opportunity to pursue my dream of playing collegiate volleyball.
I am a six rotation player for Summit Nitro Volleyball Club in Dallas, Texas. I have played as a utility player for several years with a strong focus on DS, OH and Libero. I want to make an impact on every team I am on, so I will play the position the coach needs me to play. I am a consistent server with a good balance between an aggressive and strategic serve. I have a strong court sense and put myself in a good position for defense.
I attend Newman Smith, a 5A high school in Carrollton, Texas and have been a varsity starter since my sophomore year. We are running a 6-2 offense with me playing all the way around. I am a back up setter for the team giving me a great opportunity to read the opponent and being a leader on the court. My freshman year, I was a starting six rotation player on JV and team captain.
As I do on the court, I challenge myself in the classroom currently taking Honors classes. Ideally my athletic environment would be one where I could impact the team, while also balancing my education and being pushed to the highest level of volleyball. I am extremely passionate about the sport and use every opportunity I am given to better myself. Each day I am given, I use it to focus on improvement for winning both on and off the court. I understand the dedication and balance it takes to be a student-athlete and look forward to the experience.
