Emma Benson '16 Recruiting Profile

College for me is a way to better my education and gain experience in the job field. My goal for college is to play college softball while studying political science. With this degree I hope, with my college education, to work for the FBI. 
I would make a good candidate for any team because of my great interpersonal communication and leadership skills. On and off the field it is important to know how to communicate with others to get the job done. As a catcher, it is my job to communicate plays or situations to my team because I see all. Being able to lead my team and motivate throughout games is one of my strongest assets. I always try to make not only myself better but my team better in practice, or in a game because no matter what we're doing its important to improve and strengthen our skills.
What makes me stand out from other recruits is my ability to be an all-around team player. I lead, motivate, cheer, and play as hard and as best to my abilities. In athletics I play on my high school varsity team, and was a captain on JV for the past two years. I also play for the KC Xplosion. I do strength and speed conditioning through the Xplosion and I lift in my high school gym class.
I feel like my academics make me a strong candidate for any team. I am currently a 4.0 member, a member of the National Honor Society and on the High Honor Roll. My grades are very important to me in order to get into a good school and further apply myself. My AP classes have been, I think, a good preparation for college courses and the rigor that I will experience in the future. Aside from academics, I participate in a lot of extra curricular activities such as Student Council, Government Club, Rho Kappa and Freshman Seminar. These programs have allowed me to be involved in my community through service and allowed me to become a better leader overall.
