Personal Statement
I realize this is a long, hard decision for you to make. Whom do we choose? Who is special? Who will be the 'difference-maker' in your program?! Let me tell you point blank (with all due respect)....that I WILL, given the opportunity! This...I PROMISE!!! True. I'm not huge in height, but huge in stature and desire . You'll never recruit a bigger heart and leader, with an evolving talent to boot!!! I'm entering my Senior year at Summit and I can't be more excited. We've all worked SO hard and have HUGE expectations because not only of our talent, but our collective leadership, experience and comradery is something special and I know that I shall cherish forever, whatever the outcome. Volleyball is my passion; however I love helping and teaching others (whether it be with Volleyball or in life in general). Patience, with a tactful leadership drive is my virtue and asset I look forward to fulfilling many peoples lives with, including mine.
I would to add that in my Junior year, I was awarded the Michael Purgason Award. This is an award that was selected by my coaches that began in 2012. This award is special because Michael passed away in a car accident three years ago and he was the manager for our Ladies Summit High School team. He then played at the University of Texas on the Men's Volleyball team. He had a huge heart and passion for volleyball before his ultimate legacy came to an abrupt fatal realism. His desire and drive to win was important, but his unmatched leadership, compassion beyond his years and how great of an overall person he was. He has legendary status. I had the honor not only to to learn from him personally, Our school and Coach made this award the last award given at the end of year ceremony, My Coach now calls it the Michael Purgason Award. It still makes me emotional, it always will. By the way ... I'd like to study Nursing and/or becoming a Vet Technician. I will be the best student & end result professional that I can become.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my future...
Sincerely,
Claire West
