Ashley Hellerstedt '16 Recruiting Profile

In college, I want to go above and beyond the meaning of student-athlete.  I plan on majoring in Exercise Science with three concentrations in fitness, nutrition, and business, and hold a minor in Psychology.  More than anything, I want to play volleyball!  It is my passion, and I want to perfect my skill.  I believe that my drive, my determination, and God set me apart from the rest.  Just stepping on the court makes me have an adrenaline rush that determines me to fight to the end, and as a player I want the rest of my team to have that rush.  That is why I do my best to encourage my team and give them equal opportunity to show their skill.  A team is a family and I believe without that bond there would be no team.  I also have a work ethic that is a big part of me.  My biggest critic is myself because I only strive to become better.  I believe my Christian faith also sets me apart.  I rely on it heavily, and it humbles me before every match and in life.  I am also very independent and honest; I do things myself and I respectfully tell it how it is.  These characteristics also play into my academics.  Sports are a passion but they could not be without the grades.  That is why I stay on top of things to keep my grades at their highest peak of excellence.  Thank you for investing your time in reading my statement!  I hope that it serves as a solid reason for you to consider me as a good fit for your team.  God bless!
