My name is Nicole Shannon and I can't imagine not playing volleyball in college. My studies in engineering, however, will be my most important focus in college, but I will be able to balance both school and sports with ease. I have always strived to be the best at everything I do, whether on the court or off the court and I would continue that determination no matter where I play. Academically I’m sound. I have worked hard all of my school years from kindergarten till senior year and will do the same in college.
Even though school is important, it’s not all I care about. Volleyball has been my life since I was in fourth grade and went to my first volleyball camp. I have stayed in this sport consistently for every season since seventh grade. I have had multiple coaches with different coaching styles and I have done well with each one of them. I have never had an issue with a coach or another player, but rather have had good relationships with every team I’ve been on.
I would be a good candidate for your team because I’m a hard worker. Plus not only do I work hard, but I learn fast. If I’m told to fix something or adjust I can make the change almost immediately. If I make a mistake, I will get frustrated with myself for about two seconds before I will be smiling again in the back row saying “serve to me” so I can nail the next pass. But in order to make sure I’m making good passes, I’m always talking with my setter so I know she’s getting passes that make it easier for her to set a perfect ball. If my team is losing, you will not see my head slump down. I will be the one trying to cheer others up and trying to pick up the energy again as I stay talking constantly through every play. I will be a benefit to any team because of my positive attitude and always improving athletics.
