Personal Statement
I am focused on attending a college or university that will allow me to grow both academically and socially. Volleyball has been a passion of mine since I was 9 years old. I've played at many levels and I have excelled in most of those levels. What I lack in size I make up for in my passion for the game. Previous coaches have often said that I have a high volleyball IQ, great hands and that I am very coachable. I am a good listener, and a quiet leader on and off the court. At the age of 14 I had the honor of competing with a group of girls at the club level in Northern Virginia. As the lone Setter for the team, I learned the value of what being a team leader was. I worked hard during the summer at the eve of my sophomore year and was one of three sophomores to make the Varsity team at my high school which was filled with veteran juniors and seniors. I maintained focus on my grades sustaining a GPA of 3.5.
Now, well into my sophomore year, I am focused on taking my game to the next level. I was recently selected as the starting Setter for the 16U Elite Team at the Stafford Stealth Volleyball Club, Fredericksburg, VA for the 2015-2016 season. As the primary Setter, I have a responsibility to lead my team once again. Their success is my success and their failure is my failure. I am looking forward to the challenges that remain ahead.
As I look forward to my junior and senior years, I bear the responsibility of staying strong and focused, both in the classroom and on the court. I am committed to playing at the next level and if given the opportunity, I will be fully committed to the program, to the school and to my family that I will be a good ambassador and fierce competitor.
Kristina.
