Soraya Hayes '18 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coach,

First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my NCSA Profile.  I am Soraya Hayes a 5’ 8”  Middle Hitter from Leesburg, Virginia.  I am currently a freshman at James Madison University and I play for their Club team.  I am in the Pre-Law program majoring in Political Science.  

In June 2017, I graduated Riverside High School with honors.  I am the eldest of three siblings so I have been known to be a leader on and off the court.  I am looking for a university where I can find the right balance between the classroom and court. I would like to pursue a university with an outstanding academic reputation in science and law.  Ideally, the athletic environment I am looking for would be one where I could make an immediate impact on a NCAA team.

I am a good student that knows consistent hard work pays off. Even in my senior year, I continue to welcome challenges by taking higher level courses such as physics and personal finance, as well as 4 AP classes (including calculus, human geography, government, and literature).  I am looking to play volleyball for a college or university that meets both my academic and athletic goals.

On the volleyball court, I am an excellent team player who understands everyone on our roster plays an important part on the team. This is my 4th year as a middle hitter. Several of my coaches have used me in other positions on the court as well. I enjoy making plays, am a good passer and defensive specialist.  I believe staying steady and being positive on the court is important.  I feel the best when I walk away from the court and everyone knows I have done my job, win or lose.  I have a competitive edge on the court and I do not get rattled even when the game is on the line. 

I am looking for an institution where I can find the right balance between the classroom and court. I would like to pursue a university with an outstanding academic reputation in my course of study.
