Athletically wise, I grew up playing softball as my main sport. It seems as if I have played softball since i could walk, but it was not until the summer of my 5th grade year at RVC where I discovered a unique game called volleyball. One compliment that I have appreciatively received during my process of learning volleyball, was my humble ability to advance in picking up skills and techniques of the sport. My private coach that I still work with to this day, plays a major role in my accomplishments of volleyball and helping me get to this point in my life.
I am grateful to say that my experience with volleyball involves people who truly believe in me and push me to be the best that I can be. There have been times on and off college campuses, where I was believed to become a successful D1 volleyball player one day. These type of motivational statements aspire me to achieve just that, and until I reach this goal I have been committed to working as hard as I can on and off the court. The support I receive from family, friends, and former mentors help me strive to perform my best when playing on the court.
Although I consider volleyball a top priority in my life, my education and academics still come before it. My current goal as a high schooler is to maintain my 3.8 or higher gpa, and to excel my sat/exam scores. I am not only involved in sports after school, but also theatre rehearsals for my specialty center requirements. All of these extracurricular activities have forced me to learn the useful skill of managing my time, I know that this tactic will also be the key to my success in college too.
It is very important to me that I become a successful student who can dedicate themself to schoolwork and sports with an equal amount of one hundred and ten percent in both fields. I am not afraid of standing out on a court whether it be for my accomplishments or defeats, as long as it does not affect the effort in my performance on the court. I encourage myself to put more trust into not only me, but my coaches and teammates as well. Though this journey may not be a smooth simple ride, I believe that my mistakes that are sure to come, are a representation for my willingness to try.
