In middle school we always dedicated a quarter to volleyball. As a 6th grade swimmer, I fell in love with the sport of volleyball and wanted to play it 24/7. My first experience outside of school was at a Christopher Newport University volleyball camp. I had so much fun and enjoyed it so much that I quit swim and played volleyball. I started out at one club that gave me a good foundation to get my technique. A big role in my growth was due to my high school. The JV and varsity coaches pushed me to perfect my technique and play more aggressively. After two years of one club, I played at a different one that was more competitive. The next season at school, I played JV and was invited to play up at post-season to play with varsity. As a junior now, I have switched from playing middle, to playing right side, to playing both. My coach will move me around and I adjust as she does. During the end of my freshman year in high school, I did a fitness program twice a week and it helped me improve my vertical and fitness level. This year as a varsity player, I have improved so much and we are only half way through the season.
Outside of volleyball I am in Key Club in my school so I could be more aware of more volunteering opportunities. Also, I am involved in YoungLife at my school and love to spend time with my leader. I love to make crafts and food and am constantly looking at Pinterest to find something cute to make as a birthday card or a yummy treat.
I am a strong student and hope to pursue a career in the medical field. I would like to major in athletic training or biology. I volunteer at the local CHKD and their physical therapy clinic. I love watching the patients progress and all the machines they have at the clinic. My GPA is a 4.25 and I hope to improve that GPA with all A's at the end of the year. Last year during spring break, I joined two teachers and nine other students on a week trip to Spain. I learned so much and tested my Spanish speaking skills. I tried many different foods and learned so much about the culture.
