Mikaela Shumaker '15 Recruiting Profile

I've played volleyball since 7th grade, but I think it really became my dream to play beyond highschool when I entered my freshman year at North Mason High School and got the opportunity to play as a starter on Varsity. Summer after freshman year, my coach Bob Stevens convinced me and my best friend to fly down to California to attend Long Beach State Volleyball Camp, and I fell in love with the school and their volleyball program. Seeing that hundreds of other girls shared the same dream as I do, makes me want to work for it that much more. My short distance goal to reach my dreams of playing in college, is to try out for a club team coming this fall. More than anything I regret not joining one sooner, because I know it is a great opportunity. Although my biggest dream is  to play for Long Beach State College, and be one of the girls in the poster currently hanging on my wall, I basically would love to play for any school or devision, just a team that wiil push me to be a better individual and team player.
