Throughout my life, I have been taught that academics come first. A higher level of education will help me pursue a job of my choosing and be financially secure, which will lead to a rewarding and fruitful life. However, volleyball is my passion. I fell in love with the game in fifth grade, continued to play casually throughout middle school, and found myself thriving in the competitive atmosphere of the high school and club seasons. Secretly, I dreamed of playing in college while achieving my academic goals.
Under the guidance of my amazing Coaches, and a lot of effort on my own time, I have become an impact player both on and off the court. My positive attitude, hard work, and perseverance have allowed me to be successful as both a team player and as an individual. Last year - which was my first year as a Middle Hitter - my high school team placed First in our 3A Metro League Division and I earned Second Team Honors, second only to my senior teammate. I was in the Top 10 in the Metro League for blocks. Off the court, my Coaches named me Co-Captain for the upcoming 2015 season due to my leadership abilities, academic achievements and dedication to our team.
It is for these reasons I find myself not ready to let go of such an important part of my life. I am ready to make my dream a reality. I know I will be a successful Student-Athlete if given the opportunity. Thank you for considering me.
