My name is Marin Mackey and I am a hardworking, enthusiastic volleyball player. I got pulled up to varsity my freshmen year for playoffs and continued to play as a starting outside for my next two years of high school. I have played club volleyball as an outside hitter for four years but transitioned to middle hitter on my high school team. I feel confident playing both positions although I really enjoy playing outside where I can play back row and get more passing opportunities. My junior year of high school, I was nominated for first team all conference and all-state honarable mention. I have had the amazing opportunity to play in three state championships and thrive on competitive matches! I was honored the award of player of the year my senior year of high school in the Mid-Columbia Conference. I am currently playing college volleyball at Bellevue College and I am looking to transfer to a 4-year university to continue my volleyball and academic career. Last year, I played middle blocker but I have played outside hitter the past four years. I am very open to playing both positions, as I played outside hitter for my team this year as an all the way around player. I was recently honored to received the award of MVP All North Region in the NWAC, as well as First-Team All-Tournament Team for the NWAC Elite 8 Tournament hosted by Pierce College. Most recently, I was awarded the honorable title of First Team All-American by the AVCA. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and I am excited to see where it takes me these next two years!
Knowing that I am capable of playing volleyball in college makes me even more passionate for this sport. I believe a strength that I have that makes me a good teammate, player and athlete is I have the ability to remain very focused in high stress game situations. I do my job to the best of my ability and will encourage teammates that are making simple errors due to nerves for example.
As far as choosing schools I am looking at northwest or west coast states but would be very open to going anywhere. I am open minded about colleges and just hope to find a school that fits me best. I am very interested in graphic/interior design or a career pursuing any design aspects.
Thank you!!
