Personal Statement
Three attributes that have contributed most to my growth as a volleyball player: my general athleticism, drive, and coachability. When I started playing the sport at age 12, I joined the NWJRS Elite U13’s National team with no previous experience. A month into our season the head coach pulled the other two setters and I aside. He informed us that the privilege of securing a spot on the starting lineup could be earned only by our ability to perform. That same year I became a starter and the team Captain, positions I still hold and value today.
I have been lucky enough to work with coaches who have not only pushed me, but had a genuine desire to see me succeed. I credit their dedication, paired with my own hard work, as catalysts for my passion and accomplishments in volleyball. Among them I treasure:
- Being named MVP of my high school league (2018)
- “Most Inspirational” (2015)
- 3 consecutive years of being MVP of my club team (2016, 2017, 2018)
- Making Varsity and being awarded “Coaches Choice” my freshmen year (2016)
I look forward to pushing myself further with the guidance of an inspiring coach, as well as belonging to a team that shares these same values. I am searching for a school that challenges me academically and concurrently offers me an opportunity to pursue my athletic interests.
