My name is Emma Estigoy. I am a 5’9” defensive specialist, and outside from University Place, WA. I am currently a Senior at Curtis High School and will graduate in 2017. I live with my mom and my two younger sisters. I have grown up in a Christian home, and the most important items in my life are family, school, volleyball, and my relationship with God.
I have been playing club volleyball for the past 7 years, and I love the sport more each time I step on the court. I am not only looking to make myself a better player but also lift my teammates. I am a well-rounded player being able to play most any position in the front row and all back row positions. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play volleyball at the college level while pursuing my college degree. In order to achieve this goal, I recognize it is going to take a good deal of hard work and commitment. I have the perseverance and dedication to do both.
I am a coachable player and want to continue learning to become the best player I can. Two key strengths of mine are mental toughness and perseverance. I had what could have been a career ending injury in February of 2015, a torn ACL during a club tournament. I wasn't going to let it stop me. I had surgery April 1, started rehab immediately and was back for my high school tryouts in August 2015. We went on to win the WA State Tournament and it was the highlight of my career to date!
I enjoy a high level of competition and love to be challenged. Other than my team trainings, I stay busy doing strength and conditioning with a trainer 4 times a week.
I work hard to excel in and outside of the classroom. I have been on the Honor Roll for the last 4 Semesters. I am very involved with my youth church group and love to do volunteer work in my community. I feel I have a lot to offer a volleyball program and college, both athletically and personally. I am looking forward to finding a college with the best blend of high level volleyball and a strong academic program that values my academic success.
