Personal Statement
As a black girl in society, we get pushed down and told that we can't do anything in life. I would love to use the negativity that people feed me and prove them wrong. I want to become a Pediatric Nurse so I can help children make goals and achieve them just as I am. I would be a great candidate for your team because I am coachable, I am a great listener and I put the team before myself. What makes me different then other candidates is that I won't tell you why you need me, I'll tell you why I need you. I need you to help me become better so I can play to my fullest potential. I need you so you can understand me and help me where I need it most. Last but definitely not least, I need you because I need to go to college and make my family and friends proud. These are just a few reasons why I need you more than you need me. In middle school I had a coach tell me that I could be great at anything I wanted. I took this information and put it to use in my everyday life, not just sports. I first got introduced to volleyball by my mother who played all through high school. She is the reason I'm still playing volleyball and also the reason I'm looking at colleges. I was in 5th grade when I realized that I wanted to play volleyball. In 6th grade, I played C-team the entire season until the championship game and then I was switched to varsity because they coach said she saw potential in me. From that moment on, volleyball has always been my favorite and top sport. I learned that I can push myself even more then what my coaches and teammates can at times.
