Personal Statement
As a high school student my goal for athletics has always been to not only make the team, but to contribute in a positive manner on and off the court. I strive to improve myself each day to be the best I can be, especially during the off season. I have a very strong passion for both playing and practicing volleyball, which is why I intend to transfer these goals to a college team so that I can continue to play the game I love. I consider myself a student of the game by listening to coaches, attending camps, watching higher level volleyball, and strategizing between and during plays. Besides myself, I also try to encourage my entire team to push themselves to improve their game.
As athletics are a big part of my life, I also work very hard on my academics. Being on high honors for both my middle and high school career has not been easy, but I feel that it is definitely worth it. My expectations for myself are to finish high school on high honors and to graduate college on the Dean's List. I am undecided of a major, but I do plan on graduating college with a minimum of a bachelors degree.
Currently at my high school I am very involved. I am a co-reporter for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Student Council, and Spanish Club. This past summer (June 2014) I also had the opportunity to participate on a mission trip to Louisiana to renovate homes with my FCA group. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to help people who were disadvantaged.
I believe that I would be a good candidate for a college team because I have very good time management and leadership skills, I am passionate and knowledgeable about volleyball, and I am a very hard worker.
