Personal Statement
I am a highly motivated student-athlete and would like to continue playing volleyball at a high level all while challenging myself academically. I have grown up playing the game of volleyball as well as other sports. I have been a member of my school's varsity volleyball and softball teams since I was a freshman, and the varsity basketball team since my sophomore year. I have played club volleyball for West Allis Lightning since I was 10 years old.
Since entering high school, I have centered my training around being a defensive specialist/libero. I believe I continue to improve each season and find out more and more of what I am capable of doing athletically. I continuously work to develop my skills through off season opportunities. For example, I was selected for the Badger Region High Performance International Youth Team for the second year in a row and also take part in several summer camps and workouts. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to boost my game to the next level.
I have an immense passion for the game of volleyball and invest everything I have into each point. My talents as a volleyball player as well as my intangible qualities are a positive contribution to any team. I am great at communicating on the court and bringing intense energy and passion to the floor. Coaches never have to ask me to talk more. I am a leader both on and off the court and bring out the best in my teammates.
I have taken on various leadership positions such as editor of the school newspaper and vice president of Key Club and Student Activities Council. I never settle for anything less than my best, which is why I maintain a 4.3 GPA all while taking the hardest classes available at my high school. In college, I am interested in pursuing a major in journalism and communications. I love being involved in my school and community and will continue to volunteer as I enter college. I hope that I can be an athlete, student, and person that will make your university proud.
