Personal Statement
Katie Bartelt – Class of 2018
Hi! My name is Katie Bartelt and I’m a 16 year old junior attending Winneconne High School in Winneconne, Wisconsin. I have been raised in a traditional small-town home with my parents Chuck and Kristin and brothers Jake and Mitch and value my family and our close knit relationships above all. I feel it’s the cornerstone of who I am.
I have always had a deep passion for volleyball and have been playing year round in both school and club seasons for 4 years. I have been on varsity since sophomore year and have played for both Wisconsin Volleyball Academy and Fox Cities Elite club teams participating on their national programs. Throughout this time, I have held multiple team captain roles. I’ve historically been a 6 rotation player and am currently playing DS/OH and/or libero on the FC Elite 18 Navy club team as a 16 yr old where we compete in the 17/18 Great Lakes Power League. I will also be traveling to several Midwest and National AAU tournaments in 2017.
My academic and athletic approach simply relies on hard work, attitude, and perseverance. I realized early on that in order to become successful at higher academic and competitive levels, developing sound habits and a determined work ethic while staying positive and confident would be key in overcoming obstacles and maximizing my opportunities. I’ve also focused on being a coachable listener and passionate student athlete with high moral character. I’ve fully embraced the motto “hard work paves the way”. It’s the foundation of what I believe in and is exhibited through my growing athletic, academic and community achievements including:
- 2-time Varsity Letter – Volleyball (thru Junior Year) – 6-rot. OH/DS and/or libero - Junior yr.
- 3-time Varsity Letter – Softball (thru Junior Year) - starting OF - Soph. yr
- Honor Roll Student – Highest semester GPA=3.445/4.0 - 1st Sem. Junior Year (2.96 GPA Overall)
- Co-President – PRO (Peers Reaching Out) – Winneconne High School
- Group Leader - Teen Safety Coalition - Winnebago County Sheriff’s Dept.
- 100 Documented Community Service Hours
- Highly respected by WHS faculty, School Board and Administration as well as Winneconne Community leaders
My dreams and goals at the next level are simple: continue to grow and improve personally and academically in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in education while making the absolute most of an opportunity to be an outstanding volleyball player, program contributor, and teammate. Thanks so much for reading my profile – I’d love a chance to grow together!!!!
