Roice McCollum '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Roice McCollum. I am a hard working, dedicated, competitive athlete. I aspire to play college volleyball and give back to the sports community through degrees in Sports Psychology and Kinesiology, as well as promoting healthy and wellness with a degree as a dietician. I commit 100% to everything I do athletically and scholastically. I love challenging myself to be better, do more, and work harder each day to achieve goals that seem to be out of reach. Between school, club, open gyms, camps and clinics, I play volleyball year round, I also work and commit two or three days a week to the high school and youth wrestling programs where I am an advocate for female wrestling.  My schedule is very demanding which compels me to have exemplary time management skills. Volleyball is a team sport and I love playing for and with my team but I also know that at times it is necessary to be introspective, to think about how I can improve myself and be a leader on the court. I come from a single-father household which through necessity has compelled me to take on many responsibilities. I have had to put forth the effort and work on my own to succeed in all aspects of life, which has made me a better athlete student and person.
