Personal Statement
One of the proudest moments that I had the opportunity to experience was my Junior year being able to lead my team to CIF. Our school has not had the opportunity in 3 years; we lost by three points, but that moment made me realize what it takes to be a leader. After swimming competitively in South Bay Aquatics I learned about Water Polo through a friend; instantly I fell in love with the game. Through this sport, I've learned that I enjoy learning new drills and having a strong unity is much more satisfying than competing individually in a swim club.
My previous mental illnesses such as Depression and Anxiety use to define me, as I continued this sport instead of labeling myself as these illnesses I started to learn to cope and see my life in a positive aspect because of Water Polo. This sport shed light in a time of darkness, I am optimistic to have a future in Water Polo and eventually achieve my dream of becoming a USA Olympian.
