Personal Statement
When my oldest brother started to play water polo his sophomore year of high school I immediately knew I wanted to try it out too. I have always loved swimming but water polo gave me a team aspect I felt I was missing from swim team. I started playing age group joining teams local to me and in 6th grade, I was given the opportunity to start playing and practicing with my high school team in the offseason. To me, that was one of the best opportunities I have yet to be given in my water polo career.
Before I knew it, it was my turn to be in the pool during those games that I had watched for three years now. So, that brings me to the beginning of high school. As a freshman, I played at the varsity level and claimed a starting position primarily as a hole set, but saw time in other possitions as well. From there, I have been working nonstop I joined a club team in the summer of 2016 where I have found myself growing everyday; I started weight training to improve my strength, and I have been working on leadership skills to step up and help scult my current high school team.
Outside of the pool, I have found that water polo has pushed me to become a better teamate, leader, and student. I have learned things from my team that I can apply to every situation and the game its self has become part of my life. It has helped me learn didication, sportsmanship, and perserverence. I hope to find a school the fits me both academically and athletically so I continue to play through college.
