Catalina Gillis '18 Recruiting Profile

   I am extremely serious about finding the perfect school and coaches to improve my skills in water polo. I will never give up because my goals in this sport are very high and I want to find a school that can make me the best because I believe that If I work hard enough I can be and I will be.  

      My whole life has been centered around water, from doing swim team since I was 4 years old and becoming a team captain,  I started synchronized swimming at age 11 and did it for 4 years, and got invited to Canada to compete, and went to nationals with my solo.  I then proceeded to become a certified lifeguard, and a certified open water Scuba diver and dry suit certified. I started water polo almost 2 years ago and in my first year of  water polo, I was a varsity starter and sprinter, received 3rd team all metro and MVP of my team, and this year I received 1 st team and I will continue to work until I get the MVP next year and more.  Although I am new to this sport and have only been playing for 2 years, I feel as if I was made to play it and have an intense passion for it. I have put many hours in and out of the pool to improve my skills in every aspect of this wonderful game and to surpass the athletes that have been playing longer than me. I have recently gone to two O.D.P. camps, and have learned a new aspect of the game through it and have become a better player and learned a plethora of things from them, and am honored to have made the Pacific Northwest 2017 O.D.P. team. 

       I attend Westside Christian which is a private school, where the standard for academics is always kept high and I also hold myself to these standards and always work extremely hard to receive the grades that I do.
