Personal Statement
My name is Denton Spencer and I am a wrestler at Camden County High School in Georgia. I wrestle because I have such a love for the sport, physicality, and the pride in knowing I am always doing what it takes to be a champion. I have set many goals for the future, even though they will be tough to achieve; I'm not scared of hard work. Some of these aspirations are to attend a Division 1 college, be a NCAA Division 1 National Champion, and finally go to the Olympics to compete for Team U.S.A in freestyle, as well as eventually win many world titles and U.S. Open titles on my quest.
I believe that I am different from many other wrestlers due to the fact that I am a hard worker and always willing to take on a challenge. I myself have an excellent wealth of knowledge in wrestling and I know how to really break someone mentally and physically in neutral and top. When in the wrestling room, I always strive to do the most reps, get the most takedowns, and win at whatever competition I put my mind to. I apply this to every match and every practice I attend, especially training with some of my high level training partners and coaches. After I finish with practice, I believe that I am only half done with my workout and I go home and train with my dad by either running miles after practice, and/or lifting weights in my garage. I will always strive to not be outworked!
Everything that I apply in the wrestling room, I do the same in the classroom. I have come to realize that when being looked at by recruiters, the first thing that is looked at is the GPA. By realizing this, I have put forth much effort in the classroom, enabling myself to maintain my high GPA. I believe work in the classroom is very important due to the fact that an education is my gateway into the world. When I go to college, I plan to go into the medical field and eventually become an orthodontist.
