Teanu Rickard '11 Recruiting Profile

Aloha, my name is Teanu Rickard. I am a senior attending Lahainaluna High School in Hawaii, and currently in my third year as a member of the Lahainaluna High School varsity wrestling team this 2010-2011 season. I was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Maui, and have always been interested in sports, especially wrestling and the competition it provides. I would do whatever it takes to have the opportunity to be a part of your team and too become an immediate impact for your program. As a junior in 2009-2010, I was able to win the Maui Interscholastic League Wrestling Championships at the 215 lbs. weight class; and, was also honored as a 1st Team All-League selection. I was also a State Qualifier at the same weight class and finished in 4th place at the Hawaii High School State Wrestling Championships. This season, I competed again at the 215 lbs. weight class and was successful in repeating as league champion. I was again a state qualifier and finished in 3rd place at the Hawaii High School State Championships. As an athlete, what you can expect from me is a great work ethic, dedication, leadership, commitment, sportsmanship and discipline both on and off the mat. I enjoy working out and have used my time this past summer to increase my strength and conditioning to prepare myself as a two-sport athlete, as I was also a three-year starter and two-year Captain for our varsity football team. I see myself wrestling at the 197 lbs. weight class in college; however, I will wrestle wherever you feel that I can be an immediate impact for your program. Being that Hawaii does not have any colleges with wrestling programs, I am looking for a school setting that provides a more personalized education with the right balance between academics and athletics. I have always been interested in physical fitness and I plan to use the same work ethic as an athlete to succeed academically in pursuit of a college degree in a related field. Again, I am willing to do whatever it takes to continue my wrestling career at the collegiate level; and, I look forward to continuing the recruitment process with you and your wrestling program.
