Personal Statement
My name is Emmanuel Steele Jr. and I am a senior at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, In. I started wrestling my 7th grade year in middle school. I never thought of wrestling until my dad insisted I played a second sport when football season ended. “I don’t want to wrestle,” I said. My parents strongly believe in structure to success. At first, I did not want to wrestle, but once I wrestled, I loved it! I continued wrestling in High School making the varsity team my Freshman year. My first year of high school, not only did I play football as a defensive player, but I wrestled Freshman, JV, and Varsity as well. Each year I improved, which lead me to Semi-State. My goals never stop with hopes of State, since I am a strong-willed person. With that said, I received a high-ankle injury playing the running back position hindering wrestling my junior year. I still made it to semi-state because of my physical strength and mental toughness, which are my best characteristics. My coaches always say I am one of the hardest working athletes. Working hard in wrestling is not my only goal with hopes to be a part of a collegiate wrestling team, but I intend to use my educational resources to academically prepare for college. Currently, I have earned 9 college credits, which is embedded by my family that educational success is a priority.
