Personal Statement
It's every athlete’s dream to compete at the college level, unfortunately not many get that chance. So, what sets me apart from all of the other kids with the same aspirations? I hold myself to high standards and never step down from a challenge. I believe that it doesn't matter who your opponent is or the situation, every match is important, no one more than the other. My coaches have always preached the phrase "impose your will" and to me that means stepping out on the mat and giving it all you got until the person in front of you has given in to your will to win. I attend Chapin High School in El Paso TX and am part of a wonderful and supportive military family. I have wrestled since 6th grade; I have loved the sport from the beginning and have continued to learn over the years. I work very hard and I am not afraid of any challenge that may come my way. I know that success is not achieved by luck, but by hard work and dedication that often goes unseen in sports and in life. I am unique from all other recruits because even though I commit most of my time to wrestling I maintain a 4.0 GPA, keep up with all of my course work, and I am part of an Engineering Magnet Program. My family and I have lived in many places and it has given me so much experience in both sports, academics, and life. My goal is to attend a college where I can continue to hone my wrestling skills and challenge myself academically. Thank you!
