My commitment to wrestling began in the 9th grade when I was able to wrestle a state ranked partner every day. This daily challenge and, frankly, repeated beating, pushed me to work harder and become the wrestler I am today. This experience is how I began branching out and going to other facilities and schools to expand on my wrestling skills and knowledge. The hardships of my freshman season have formed me into the person I am today, it gave me the attitude that no matter what challenge is presented to me, I will do everything in my power to over come the challenge presented.
I transferred to a more academically rigorous school in my sophomore year due to a suggestion from a football coach, the move was tough academically and athletically. Athletically it was challenging because I had come from a good sized, decent wrestling program into a smaller wrestling program where my options for partners were limited. This presented many problems as I did not have the challenge as I did before but this inspired me to push my team to become better and recruit other athletes to participate in the sport of wrestling at my new school. This shaped me into a much better leader and taught me how to make the best of my situation. All of these traits that I have developed throughout my high school wrestling career such as perseverance, leadership, and toughness are what lead me to believe that I can compete and succeed at the next level.
