Personal Statement
The first time I stepped foot on the mat, I knew that wrestling was going to be a big part of my life. It is my greatest passion and always will be. To me, wrestling is a lifestyle that allows you to incorporate talent, skill, and technique into competition unlike any other sport. As a team captain, I not only get to see myself develop, but my teammates as well. Leading stretches, talking about nutrition, and playing as a role model for my team creates unity that I would have never dreamed of. I have always been very competitive in everything that I participate in. My dedication and love for this sport goes beyond the wrestling room. I am constantly involved in clinics to show the new wrestlers what this sport is all about. Being the first ever wrestling state champion that has ever come out of my school, I plan to achieve new heights and goals beyond high school. In the classroom I am very focused. My senior year I plan to take AP classes and other difficult classes that push me to my full potential. I believe fully that you get out of it what you put into it. This applies for anything that you plan to achieve in your life. There is no "off-season" for me, I wrestle all year round, attending camps and tournaments. I am looking forward to the transition that college is going to put me through. The steps that I am taking to get to the next level will pay off when my senior year closes in. My goal is to repeat as a state champion. Without a doubt, I will be training and setting new goals throughout the summer months to prepare myself.
