Personal Statement
I am a 175 pound senior at West Central Area Secondary School in the small town of Barrett, Minnesota. I consider myself an all around athlete who has a passion for the sport of wrestling. It is been a huge part of my life since kindergarten. My dad wrestled, my mom had brothers who wrestled, my older brother wrestled, and my sister did wrestling stats. Wrestling has definitely been a way of life for my family.
I have been cursed with a genetic defect in my knees which allows my kneecaps to dislocate. I ‘ve had two surgeries on each knee to alleviate the issue. I have persevered through long recoveries and always mounted a comeback. I never lost faith that I would fully recover and be an important part of both the wrestling and baseball programs at my high school. During rehabilitation, I stayed connected to the sport by running an advanced elementary wrestling program, served as a clinician at our summer wrestling camp, coached the community education toss ball team, and served as umpire for the youth baseball program.
I am looking for a college where I can meet my academic goals in a athletic trainer program. I prefer a small college with low student to teacher ratios. It has always been my dream to wrestle in college.
I believe that my past conduct has demonstrated that I am a team player and willing to do what it takes to help my team succeed. I am a mentally strong athlete who has passion and wrestles with my heart. I have been dealt many challenges and they have motivated me to work even harder behind the scenes to be a better athlete during the season. My actions have proven me to be a leader both on and off the mat. I am very coachable and I have the athletic tools required to impact a college program.
Academically, my grade point took a hit when I attended post secondary classes at the local community college my entire junior year and I am enrolled full time my senior year also.
I would be honored if you would consider me to be part of your team.
