One thing that I think separates me from most other athletes is that I am self motivated. I have been captain of my wrestling squad for the last two years, I think, because my coach knows he can count on me to be the first one at practice and the last one to leave. Every day at practice I wrestle as if its a real match. I run every wind sprint with all I have. My final record for my senior year was 59-3. Many of my wins come in the third period when I have more gas in the tank than my opponent. I come from a family of three other older brothers who were wrestlers too and I they have taught me to go above and beyond what is required of me. I believe that attitude has helped me to obtain the success I've been blessed with.
Just recently our team has won the NC dual team state championship for the first time in our schools history. In post season individual tournaments I won the Western Highlands Conference, the NC Western Regional Championship and just recently the NC State Championship at 170 lbs. At the State Tournament I was also voted most outstanding sportsman at the tournament. I also set the record at our school for the most wins in a season this year with 59. Most recently (May 2014) I competed in the NC State Freestyle and Greco Roman tournament. I won both tournaments at the 170 lb. weight class. Those accomplishments complete the "Triple Crown" of NC wrestling (State Titles in all 3 wrestling styles).
I am also a Christian and I take my faith seriously. I believe I represent Jesus Christ when I'm on the mat, in the classroom or walking the halls. I do not want to do anything to disappoint Him. It is my life goal to wrestle at the college level and ultimately become a history teacher and perhaps even coach at the high school level some day.
