Daniel Vargas '18 Recruiting Profile

Hello,  my name is Daniel Vargas.  I am 5'5 and wrestling at 120lb  weight class currently. I am a two time letter winner for Rio Rancho High School and 2016-2017 New Mexico class 6A-1 district champ, 6A state runner up, and 2nd team all state.  For 2017, I made team captain and I enjoy having a positive influence on upcoming athletes and instilling a sense of team spirit.

Originally from San Diego, California, now residing in Rio Rancho, NM where my mom is employed and supports me on my pursuit of a wrestling athletic path.  I moved to Rio Rancho after my freshmen, and first year of wrestling to pursue bigger opportunities and improve my chances of being able to wrestle at the highest level possible.  I've worked incredibly hard to get to where I am.  I like to challenge myself and I am always in pursue of the next level.  I  will  continue to strive to make significant improvements both academically and in my athletic pursuits.   Ideally I will like to achieve Division I status but will consider any opportunity to wrestle at my highest best.  In pursuit of optimal improvement, during the summer of 2017, I practiced and trained with the coaches and team at Buchanan HS in California at a 120lb weight class.

Preferably I would like to attend a division 1, 2, or NAIA university or college.  My current ACT score is 23.   The amount of financial aid and/or scholarship available would influence my decision  to some degree as it would be of great benefit to myself and family.
