It has always been my dream to follow in my five uncles’ footsteps and compete in wrestling at the college level. I started wrestling at the age of five when I participated in the youth wrestling program. I obtained one of my goals when I wrestled on the varsity high school team as a freshman at 120 pounds.
I believe in hard work and dedication on and off the mat. The summer of my freshman year I started my own business called, “The Wrestling Crew.” I would call a teammate to help work with me whatever the particular job entailed, whether it was cleaning up lawns, gardens or splitting and stacking wood.
Volunteering is important to me, at my church, at the fire house (I am a junior firefighter) and on the mat where I coach at many youth wrestling clinics and practices. I also work at my family’s business.
My community has had a positive influence on me and has given me my future goal of working in the medical field. College is my platform to help me obtain this. I am looking for a college that has a strong science program.
I would like to have the chance to wrestle in college so I could work hard for my team and continue to improve my strength, conditioning, technique and mental toughness, and where I will strive towards competing at the championships.
