Personal Statement

I began wrestling in 6th grade. I didn't know what to expect as I had never wrestled before. After a week of practice I began to love the sport, I soon realized that the more sweat and blood I put into practice, the bigger the advantage I gained over my opponents. As soon as my high-school career started I had dreams of being a state champion. Last year (2012), being a 5A District champion and the first year I had made it to the OSAA State wrestling tournament, I earned 3rd place, losing only once in the semi's. At the end of the season I received the MVP award voted upon by my fellow teammates, as well as the Coaches award, voted upon by the coaches for leadership and character. This year, as a senior, my goals are still to be a State Champion in the 160lb weight class. I am currently ranked second in the 5A division behind the very opponent I lost to in the Semi's at the 2012 State tournament. I do not plan on losing again.

As far as my academic goals, I have always been interested in science and the way things work. My freshman year I was placed in all advanced classes with Algebra II, ADV. Language Arts I, and Biology. My sophomore year I was placed in Chemistry, Analysis, and ADV Language Arts II. As well as being inducted into the National Honor Society, I served as the Sophomore Class Treasurer. Junior year included advanced classes as well, consisting of Physics, AP English Language and Composition, and Calculus. I also served as Student Representative at all District 9 School board meetings. On top of that I was employed by the District in the Technology department as an Apple technician. In Leadership I served as the Junior Class President. As a senior I am currently the ASB President of my school, a three year Honor Society and Leadership class member, Link Leader, Community 101 Member, and Computer Technology Tutor. I am currently taking Computer Technology as a tutor, AP Human Anatomy and Physiology, and retaking a semester of Calculus for a better GPA. I have always chosen the hardest classes at my school, and have always struggled with advanced math classes. I take these classes because I know that if I want to be successful, I have to be competitive. In order to do so I realize I have to be able to challenge myself and do things better than everyone else.

Never Give Up, And Never Give In
