Personal Statement
My name is Tristan Charles Roa. I am currently a junior wrestler in the 120 lbs weight class at Brentwood High School. I am a 3 year Varsity High School Wrestler. I will be graduating from Brentwood High School in 2016. I was raised by my two parents, Carlos and Rebecca Roa. Both of my parents come with a strong military background, who have taught me to improve and succeed against all odds. My core value in life is to not give up. I apply this value greatly into my wrestling.
I train daily to become the best wrestler and young man I can be. I have been involved in wrestling since the second grade. I understand the painful grind that comes along with it and I embrace it. I also transition these values into my academics. I push myself consistently to maintain a solid 3.0 GPA during the wrestling season and offseason. I wrestle all year round. I wrestle Greco and Freestyle in the offseason to improve when my opponents may not. I have been fortunate enough to practice with wonderful coaches and great teammates. One of my coaches, Jeramie Welder, a Fargo First Place Champion and a University of Nebraska Alumnus. I also train with my grandfather, who himself was once a college wrestler. I have also trained and competed alongside the Team Tennessee Cadet National Team. As a high school student I push myself to take honor and AP classes.
It is my goal to be an excellent student and athlete. I bring a very competitive spirit to anything I do. I hope to make an impact on college wrestling, and in the classroom. I look forward to making an impact at your school.
