Personal Statement
My name is Austin Andrew and I am very interested in wrestling in college and gain not only more experience in wrestling but also in life. I’m always striving to be the best that I can be, both on and off the mat. I have a very strong foundation in the Lord, which has led me to mission trips and internships in foreign countries working with orphans and growing as a person. I use my faith in the Lord to guide me and how I treat others and my outlook on life. I am looking for programs that will help me grow as a person as well as challenge me as a student and an athlete. I am a driven student-athlete that is committed and dedicated to do what it takes to be the best that I can be. I understand how important academics are and have already taken 5 AP classes earning college credits and am taking 4 more my senior year; and received Academic All District for 2017 10-6A team.
I first started wrestling my freshman year at the request of my football coach and that was when I knew this was the sport I wanted to pursue. Wrestling has taught me so much about myself and also about perseverance, hard work and dedication. I believe that I would be an asset to any college wrestling program not only because of my athletic abilities, but also because I am a team player who believes in respecting others and helping my coaches and teammates. I finished this season 2nd Team All District 10-6A and a Regional qualifier. Although I am very proud of my accomplishments this year since I missed all my sophomore year due to an injury, my goals for my senior year are placing 1st Team All District, 1st place at Regionals and to win State, which will lead me to getting recruited to wrestle at the next level while pursuing my degree. I wrestled club freestyle with O Athletik through this summer to continue building my skills during the off season, leading up to my senior wrestling season of high school.
I would like to speak with any coach regarding your needs and discuss how I may fit with your program.
Thank you for your time.
Austin Andrew
