Personal Statement
My name is Zachary Allen and I am currently a junior at Mill River Union High School, which is located in Clarendon, Vermont. I will be graduating in June of 2016. With the inevitable graduation in my sights, so is my future and where I want to be.
My academics do not take a back seat to athletics, as I know that student athletes are students first. My current GPA is a 3.00. I plan to major in the field of Athletic Training I would love to be in this field for a variety of reasons, but most importantly I can help athletes of all levels get back to full strength. I also enjoy other hobbies like hiking, swimming, weight lifting, baseball, whiffle ball and football.
So far in High school career I have a career record of 126-15 (80 pins) and won 2 state championships, I was voted the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the state of Vermont in 2013, throw out my career I have one almost every tournament I have been at and I was invited to Colorado Springs this past summer to train at the Olympic Training Center with Coach Richard Estrella. I felt very honored to train at the OTC with Coach Estrella and some members of the World Team because of their accomplishments and drive to keep the sport successful. It's not very often the Olympic head coach invites you out to train with the best for six weeks, so I soaked in all the knowledge I could.
In the next year, I have goals of winning another state championships in Vermont. I also have the plan to place at the New England Championships and I also am setting my sights on a New England title. This past summer in Colorado was a tremendous learning experience with Coach Estrella and company, but it also convinced me that I have a good chance at placing in Fargo or Virginia Beach where the National Championships are held.
