Personal Statement
I started wrestling in 6th grade. Since I first stepped on the mat, I have aspired to wrestle at the collegiate level. I know that wrestling in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life.
While I have not wrestled for long, I feel I have accomplished a lot. As a freshman at Central Valley HS in California, I was one of only a handful of freshman to advance to day two of the California State Masters tournament. While I just fell short of my goal of qualifying for the state tournament, I was optimistic I was on the right path. As a sophomore, my family and I relocated to Washington state. I completed my sophomore year with a 38-6 record and placed second at the 4A high school state tournament. The following year (2016), I completed the season with a 40-0 record and won the Washington State 4A state championship. I am looking forward to becoming a 3X state finalist and 2X state champion this season.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. I understand the difficulty and importance of balancing a challenging academic load and year round wrestling/training.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and continue to learn and grow in the wrestling room. At this time, I am confident I will be 4 year college 125 pound wrestler. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all peers and make my parents proud.
