    What the Coaches are Saying...
    Sep 06, 2017

“Let me explain a little about Wheeling Jesuit University. We are a school that was founded in 1954 in Wheeling, WV, based off the Jesuit beliefs. We offer over 40 programs of study, and our average class size is 18. Nearly 74% of the student population lives on campus, which is serviced by our Parkhurst Dining Room and our Campus Coffee Shop serving Starbucks. While we may be located in the city, we are away from the hustle and bustle, our campus is tranquil. Visit our website, www.wju.edu. Since you now have insight into our school, I would like to discuss our Hockey Program. This season we became a member of the CIHA, Collegiate Ice Hockey Association. Some of our opponents are Case Western Reserve, Carnegie Mellon University, Gannon University and Allegheny College. We also play other teams not in our division, for example Marshall University and Denison University. While many schools may charge to play hockey, we at WJU believe that our students are representing our school, and therefore we do not charge our players to play. Our home games and practices are held at WesBanco Arena, home of the Wheeling Nailers, the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Candiens. Aside from not charging our players to play another of our perks, we have a charter bus to all of our away games and tournaments.”
