“As you start narrowing your choices of schools to attend, I hope you will consider St. Norbert College in your decision making process. Because you may not know much about St. Norbert’s and our soccer program, please let me share with you some information to acquaint you with our institution. Our athletic heritage at St. Norbert is one of the most highly recognized in Midwest Division III athletics, and we are now working to ensure that our soccer program will continue this winning tradition. We have won 5 out of the last 11 Midwest Conference Championships and 5 out of the last 11 Midwest Conference Tournament Championships. Also in the past 10 years we have played in 5 NCAA Tournaments with one Second Round appearance and one Sweet 16 appearance. We anticipate good things to come as we start our 2013 season. We are currently looking for players with the commitment to aid us in winning another Conference Championship! We feel that you are the type of student-athlete who can assist us in achieving our goals. As you compare schools, it will be difficult to find many that possess both an excellent academic and athletic reputation combined. For 18 years, U.S. News & World Report has ranked St. Norbert College among the top comprehensive colleges in the Midwest. In their 2012 guide to “America’s Best Colleges” St. Norbert was ranked as one of the Top-10 Catholic Liberal Arts Colleges in the nation. St. Norbert College has also been named to Forbes "America’s Top Colleges." In the 2011 rankings, St. Norbert jumped 68 spots to number 84 out of all colleges and universities in the nation and number 2 in the state of Wisconsin. I encourage you to visit our website at www.snc.edu to learn more about all the benefits St. Norbert College has to offer. Here is the press release from my hiring in 2012 so that you can learn more about me as coach. DE PERE, Wis. - Derek Rhodes has been named head men’s soccer coach at St. Norbert College, athletics director Tim Bald announced today. Rhodes has coached the last four seasons as the head boys’ soccer coach at Ashwaubenon High School (2008-2011). From 2004 to 2007, Rhodes was an assistant coach at St. Norbert under his father, Dale, when the Green Knights won three Midwest Conference championships and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament three times. "We are pleased Derek Rhodes will be leading the St. Norbert College men's soccer program," Bald said. "Derek has an understanding of the mission of St. Norbert College and is directly familiar with successful programs in our recent past. He has the enthusiasm and technical experience to make an impact." Under Rhodes, Ashwaubenon finished 59-26-9. The Jaguars won the Fox River Classic Conference in 2010, their first conference championship in 19 years. Ashwaubenon also won the FRCC West Division title in 2008. "I am very excited to once again be part of the St. Norbert men’s soccer program," Rhodes said. "I can’t wait to meet with the players and continue to build on the past tradition of the program." During Rhodes’ tenure as an assistant at St. Norbert, the Green Knights posted a 61-14-4 overall record and went 34-1-1 in Midwest Conference play. The 2004 squad finished 17-1-2 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Tournament, while the 2006 team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Rhodes, a De Pere native, was a decorated college player at the University of Massachusetts. As Captain of the Minutemen Rhodes was a first-team All-Atlantic 10 Conference selection during his senior year of 2002, and was also an All-New England Regional Team Selection. Rhodes helped the Minutemen to a pair of A-10 regular-season championships, one A-10 Tournament title and a second-round appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament in 2001. Rhodes is the general manager and Director of Coaching for the Sports Emporium Indoor/Outdoor Athletic Facility in De Pere.
