    What the Coaches are Saying...
    Feb 22, 2019

“In 2017 I will have at least 3 possibly more openings on my Roster. I want at least 2 of these golfers to have the proven ability to consistently shoot in the low to mid 70"s, or the mid to high 70's in competition. I still have sizable scholarship dollars available to the right fit positive impact players. I realize many golfers in this category may want to play Division 1 golf - however - that may not always be the best choice. Given the opportunity to explain my position - I feel I can make a convincing case! I am also open to considering golfers with exceptionally positive attitudes and strong work ethics that may have great potential and a strong desire to improve their scoring abilities - that have not yet broken into the 70's in competition on a regular basis. One of my primary beliefs is: "Iron sharpens Iron". I have and intend to continue to have a large tight knit Team that enjoys healthy competition with one another. We are seeing the benefits of that in developing outstanding Team depth. The Team has grown into a group of close friends that inspire one another to work hard and constantly improve. Converse College is a small private College in Spartanburg, SC. Founded in 1889, Converse is a beautiful historic campus located in what is now a true "College Town" - in Spartanburg, SC. My name is Patti McGowan, and I am the Golf Coach at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC and would like to encourage you to visit our website @ www.converse.edu to find out more about our College and me as a Coach. You may also want to visit our Facebook page at: Converse College Golf - to get a glimpse of life on our Golf Team. We compete in the Conference Carolinas which is in the NCAA Division 11. Though we are a small private college - we have many resources that even many Division 1 Colleges do not have. You can also visit this link to get a view of some of our exceptional Athletic Facilities: http://www.converse.edu/about/campus-map/marsha-h-gibbs-field-house/ In addition to the 3 bay indoor swing room at The Marsha Gibbs Field House - we have some of the very latest technology for our Golf Team. We have and use: The Sam Putt Lab, Flightscope complete with the very latest "Focus-Band" Technology, and Swing Catalyst. We also have an outdoor on-campus artificial turf putting & chipping green with 2 green-side bunkers. This makes a quick practice sessions between classes possible! In addition to that - our Team practices and plays at one of the States top Country Clubs - Carolina Country Club. It is a a great golf course with fantastic practice facilities - and has been the host course for the BMW Pro-Am on multiple occasions. Please email me or call me at your earliest convenience if you have an interest in joining a great Golf Team and continuing to improve your game while getting an outstanding education and enjoying a balanced college experience .
