When I began pitching at age 9, I knew baseball would soon become the sport I would continue to play through high school and beyond. Baseball has been a major part of my life since the age of 5. I have played for multiple travel baseball teams along with Spain Park high school's baseball team. Through this sport, I have learned the trials that are faced by almost every player and how to overcome them. I have learned to continue to move forward, and not allow one bad pitch or outing to affect my overall ability to succeed. When fellow teammates make a mistake, I feel inclined to encourage them to not let it get in their head.
Now I’m in my senior year of high school, I will perform to the best of my ability in both athletics and academics. In college, I will do the same but will also be looking toward preparing for a career. The main obstacle of my baseball career that I’ve had to overcome is that I am one of the youngest student-athletes in my grade. This was an obstacle growing up because the other athletes grew before I did and had an extra year of baseball behind them. My true motivation comes from, when given an opportunity, I will perform to the best of my ability to prove I'm a valuable asset to the team. One of the unique characteristics I have is that I am able to balance both school and baseball. I am able to maintain over a 4.0 grade point average and play a prominent role on my high school and travel baseball teams.
