Personal Statement
My name is Ian Ellerbrock, and I am a rising Senior at Mortimer Jordan High School in Kimberly, Alabama. I am currently maintaining a weighted GPA of 3.96 while working towards an advanced academic diploma. In addition to being an honors student, I am a member of the National Honor Society, an Ambassador for the High School, and a member of the baseball team. I have just started my Senior year at Mortimer Jordan, where I have lettered my first three years in baseball. During my freshman and sophomore years, I played first base on the Junior Varsity team and pitched on the Varsity team. Junior year, when not pitching, I was the starting first baseman on the Varsity team. This season we made it to the state semi-finals for just the third time in school history. I made pitching appearances in 5 games during the playoffs, allowing one run in 7 and 2/3 innings, including coming into two bases loaded situations both of which were in elimination games.
My travel team is Team East Cobb Baseball. My team typically plays in Perfect Game tournaments. Playing against a higher level of competition at these tournaments has made me realize how much I love baseball. It has also made me more committed to being the best player possible. When I am not playing, I am working out with a personal trainer, running, working with my pitching coach, and hitting in the cage.
I am looking for a school that will be the best fit my academic and athletic interests. I am interested in studying biochemistry and environmental studies. I am looking to attend a school that is known for both its academic and baseball programs.
