My freshman year of high school, my first year of varsity, our record was 6-22. This was by far the worst season of baseball I have ever been through. We decided as a team that we did not want to go through that again. We hit the weight room hard, determined to get stronger both mentally and physically. During my sophomore and junior seasons we won 51 games. That first season taught me that winning requires a good work ethic and determination. These lessons are important in life as well as baseball, and they have helped me to learn to focus on my goals. It requires hard work and determination to achieve the things you want, and I like the feeling of setting a goal, putting in the work, and getting the results that I want. I hope to take the lessons I have learned and apply them to both playing college baseball and achieving my academic goals.
My first two years of varsity I was a role player. My main job was being a relief pitcher and making occasional spot starts when I was needed. It was frustrating not getting able to play as much as I wanted, but it was what I needed to do to help my team win. I tried to be the best role player I possibly could be while still working hard to earn a starting spot. My time finally came during my junior year. I was our starting first basemen and our main relief pitcher. I have always prided myself on being a team player, and I am excited about my upcoming senior season.
I am looking for a school where I can make an impact with my work ethic on and off the field. I am open to location and level, but I plan on studying Biology with a Pre-Veterinary concentration so a school with that degree track would be ideal.
