Houston Grissom '19 Recruiting Profile

       Whenever I am asked, what is most important to me in life? I always answer the question quickly by saying in this specific order God, family, academics and baseball. I became a Christian in the summer of 2015, which has been one of the biggest and most fulfilling commitments in my life, and put me on a path to be my best, and a leader in any situation. My family has overcome, and won throughout many trying times such as the battle of Leukemia with my mom, and the adoption of my sister through foster care, throughout all of this my family and I have always been a team, and put God first, as it is always in his hands. I mention the word team with my family as I know it takes more than just one person to battle, win and persevere in life, which is the mindset I use with baseball as well, we not me.

         I have been fortunate in my life to have parents who support me 100%, I have had some form of a ball in my hand since the age of 4 yrs. old, around my 6th grade year I chose to play the sport of baseball only and give it my all, I knew it was where my heart was, and I have played year round since that time. Baseball has given me the ability to develop skills as a dedicated leader on and off the field, to find where there's something negative there's always a positive, and that friendship can be found in baseball fields all around the world.

        I have been working hard as long as I can remember to prepare myself to compete at a college level, that has always been my ultimate goal, even as a Sophomore I am looking at colleges with an open mind that would be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I am confident as I strive on the field as a leader, and teammate, my determination to perfect my talent will be evident and a good match for your school.
