My name is Ben Staiger. I'm 6'0" and I currently weigh 175 pounds. I fell in love with the game of baseball at a young age and ever since I've been striving to reach my goal of playing college baseball with the aspiration of playing beyond college. I've played at many levels including little league (all-star selection), travel ball, and high school. I had the opportunity to play in the 2014 12U USA National Open in Compton, CA., being one of the 112 players selected from across the nation. Once I entered the seventh grade, coaches and other people that have been involved in higher level baseball, began telling me that they believed I had the potential to play at the next level. I try to obtain as much knowledge from coaches and be as coachable as I can possibly be. I'm a strong right handed who likes to utilize the gaps and the right side of the field. I see myself as an above average fielder. My primary position is shortstop but I'm not afraid to be versatile and play the corners or the outfield. I enjoy challenging myself in the classroom by taking honors and advanced placement classes. As an incoming junior I still have opportunity to improve my abilities and become a better ballplayer and teammate. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement.
