Personal Statement
My name is Garrett Hatfield. I take a lot of pride in representing my family and its name the right way as a player on and off the field. The right way means being a role model in the classroom, on the field and at home. The right way also means being polite, respectful and kind. My goal is to further my education while playing the game I love. I began playing the sport at 4 years old and it has been my passion ever since. When I was around ten years old, I always wanted to be like a certain major league player, but as I have grown up I have come to realize that I can only be the best version of myself. I strive every day to be the best student, player and person I can be. My character can be described as one of honesty and fairness. I believe it is important to treat people fairly and tell the truth. I perceive myself as a mild-mannered, quiet, yet driven and hard working person. My high school team at Little Rock Central High is made up of all different backgrounds. I became friends with all the players quickly and am well liked and work well with everyone on the team. The best part of my team is we all work towards a common goal despite our different backgrounds. As for athletics, my strongest asset on the baseball field has been my versatility. Through the course of my baseball career, I have played every position on the field. This year at Little Rock Central, I played infield and outfield at the varsity level. I started games at second base and the outfield. I learned early on that the more positions you play, the better chance you have of being out on the field. Playing college baseball has been a goal for me ever since I can remember and I hope to have an opportunity to play at the next level.
