Personal Statement
My name is Everett Babcock, I have been playing travel baseball at an intense level since I was nine years old. My experience has taught me how to be a leader, how to work with my teammates, and control the field of play. Having been a pitcher for my High School I have also learned how to speak to, support, and manage the pitching staff. I have learned how to be a leader on and off the field. Through my experience I have also learned what it takes to win and the hard work that it takes to be a winner.
From my viewpoint catching is the most important role on the field. I have learned where every player needs to be on the field in all situations and how to keep a tempo for the pitcher. I have learned that catching is hard work, I have also learned in order to work hard on the field and to be a good catcher I need to work as hard off the field. I practice hard, take lessons every week, and always work to continue improving my performance. I work equally as hard at my academics because I know that an education is important for my future.
It is my dream to continue to play the game competitively for as long as I can at the collegiate level and beyond. I feel like I am a student of the game and I learn more each day I get to play. To me baseball is a physical, emotional, and mental game that I look forward to every day.
My goal is to be a leader for my team and to participate in creating, and contributing to, a competitive environment. I take pride in my academics and will never have a problem maintaining grades. What separates me from other players is my ability and desire to work hard to get the most out of the game I love.
