Personal Statement
My name is Ethan Z. Schmidt. I am a senior (Class of 2020) at Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills, California. I am a starting middle infielder on the Canyon Varsity baseball team. Baseball has been my life and passion!
I am a three-year Varsity player and was the Frosh/Soph team captain and Team MVP my freshman year. As a sophomore, I was named to the Varsity baseball team and represented my high school in the Orange County CA Sophomore Showcase for coach-selected high potential baseball players.
I was born blessed with agility and athleticism and have played organized sports since the age of 4, heavily in baseball and soccer. I also played soccer at the Junior Varsity level at Canyon as a freshman before focusing solely on baseball. My soccer legs and natural style have made me a smooth and agile middle infielder and a quick and effective baserunner. My confidence and composure have made me a relief pitcher my coaches can trust in tense situations.
As a long time travel/club player, my strengths have been my baseball knowledge/heads-up play (“baseball smarts”), leadership, focus, coachability, speed, agility, and versatility.
I am a 4.0 scholar-athlete (ACT to be taken in September) with a desire to pursue a Kinesiology/Sports Medicine major while working hard for the success of the baseball team. Balancing school and sports with a foundation in faith has been my success. I want to continue my baseball life at the college level. I look forward to the opportunity to represent the school and baseball program as a committed student and impactful player!
